Data Hardware Depot

Phase 2

Data Hardware Depot is a fast growing Santa Barbara based company specializing in providing refurbished communications network infrastructure equipment to clients all over the world. After a successful build out of a smaller suite within the former Firestone Tire Store, the company was in need of more space for its expanding workforce. The building is designated a Structure of Merit by the City of Santa Barbara and the existing 1930's era architecture is celebrated by showcasing the exposed ceilings, concrete floors, and large steel framed windows. A fresh coat of paint and the addition of custom designed wall sconces and a large glass garage door serve to freshen up the exterior façade. Our design team set to work to translate the original design concept to the larger warehouse portion of the building which boasts plentiful natural light, views of the nearby mountains, and double-height ceilings. Again, we worked closely with the founder to design a modern, energetic space to fit the personality and culture of his fun-loving team. Playful super graphics and lounge furniture highlight DHD's brand while the locally sourced custom made living walls and Santa Barbara-centric artwork add warmth and personality to the building's inherent industrial vibe. The formerly enclosed and unfriendly mezzanine space was opened up to provide a secondary meeting and lounge space for employees. The shared daylighting throughout the office, easy access to the outdoors, flexible work space, and abundance of greenery serve to elevate the interior environment to a truly enjoyable workplace. *Project was completed while employed at the Cearnal Collective.
